Brig is my first Labrador Retriever.  He has been a joy to train.  The field work is definitely in his genes - he began passing JH tests at nine months and earned the JH just a few days past his first   birthday.  When I first told some friends that I was interested in field training and getting a field Lab, they told me that I was nuts.  Thankfully I didn't listen to them, I'm just having too much fun.

He is a very enthusiastic obedience and agility worker.  In agility as a youngster he was usually too fast, now he is more careful.  He earned the last legs of the AX and AXJ at the same trial with a "mini double Q.".    He was 5 for 5 while earning the 5 legs of the first UGRACH. 

While trialing for the UKC and AKC Novice obedience titles he was shown 9 times with no failures. In AKC Open he earned the title in 5 tries (with 2 firsts) and the UKC Open title was earned in 4 tries (with 2 firsts). His first UDX leg was earned with a first in Utility and a High Combined  He earned his U-UD at one trial and at the next three UKC obedience trials that weekend he earned 37 U-OCH points, 3 combined legs, was High Combined 3 times, and in the last trial was High in Trial. At the 2009 UKC Premier he was High Combined on Saturday and High in Trial on Sunday with a perfect score of 200 in Open B.

He earned the MACH on 9/27/09 in a very twisting full-of-traps standard run.  We had gotten down to one point the day before!  I was extremely keyed and it was just so cool to see him go over the last jump clear.
